Mt. Carmel Prayer Centre - Enugu

Mt. Carmel prayer Centre is the practical administrative base of our young Vicariate. Founded in 1988, the Priory is also a very popular venue for Mass and the small quasi-public Church is packed to overflowing most days. The Grotto of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and the Shrine of the Infant of Jesus in the compound have become popular places of prayer for many people. Many people also frequent the priory for the sacrament of Reconciliation, counselling, spiritual direction and retreats.

The Head Office of CAPIO (Carmelite Prisoners’ Interest Organization) in Nigeria, located at 2 Bent Lane, GRA, Enugu is also run from the community. The community has a prison ministry which includes chaplaincy to the Enugu State maximum prison with Fr. Ambrose Ekeroku being the prison chaplain and the Executive Director of CAPIO.
