RETREAT
Discalced Carmelite friars serve God’s people. Called by Christ and sustained by him, they help others to experience the presence and companionship of Christ in their lives. The ministry of Carmelite friars is varied and fulfilling. It includes celebrating the sacraments, preaching the Gospel, building community, directing retreats, facilitating faith sharing, providing prayer guidance and spiritual accompaniment and supporting the sick and the needy. The Discalced Carmelite Order has many well-known saints and a rich tradition of spirituality. This heritage inspires and guides Carmelite friars in whatever ministry they are involved especially in its retreat ministry. In particular, it enables them to assist those they serve to discover and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
In a desire to respond to people’s spiritual needs of finding a safe place for spiritual refreshment, renewal and peace, we have retreat houses with a threefold purpose in mind:
- To provide a place of welcome for those who are searching for God and those who wish to deepen their spiritual life.
- To offer opportunities to converse about faith and life, especially in the light of the scriptures and Carmelite spiritual tradition.
- To create time and space for experiences of prayer.
